Environmental Transformation Movement of Flint is community-based organization whose mission is to grow “diverse environmental justice leaders and just relationships to secure a healthy, sustainable future by and for Flint residents.”

Flint Community-Based Organizations

Environmental Justice Action Group is a chapter of the Sierra Club for residents in Detroit and Flint which strives to “address environmental justice issues in and with affected communities, starting by building or supporting a regional coalition related to Detroit/Flint water quality and affordability, promote dialogue and understanding of linkages between environmental quality and social justice in Michigan, and, serve as an advisory body to Sierra Club Michigan’s Executive Committee (EXCOM).”

Ecology Center is an organization that strives to “educate consumers to help keep their families healthy and safe, to push corporations to use clean energy, make safe products, and provide healthy food, to provide people with innovative services that promote healthy people and a healthy planet and to work with policymakers to establish laws that protect communities and the environment.”

Michigan Community-Based Organizations

Community Action to Promote Healthy Environments (CAPHE) is a “community-based participatory research partnership that includes community-based organizations, the health practice community, environmental organizations, and academic researchers. We are working together to develop and implement a public health action plan to improve air quality and health in Detroit.”

One Tree Planted is an international organization with projects in many states in the United States which has this vision: “We want to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees. Together we can restore forests, create habitat for biodiversity, and make a positive social impact around the world.”

National & International Community-Based Organizations

Environmental Protection Agency: Air Quality Partnerships with Communities “works with communities across the Midwest to use our programs and regulatory authorities to address air quality concerns and interests.”
